How Surgical Boom Installation Works with KR Wolfe
KR Wolfe is a WBENC-certified construction and equipment installation contractor that installs surgical booms, anesthesia booms, and ceiling-mounted boom systems for healthcare facilities nationwide. The team holds a quality inspection program (QIP) contract with Stryker, with technicians deployed across more than 200 hospitals globally to verify OR equipment performance to Stryker's standards.
- Site assessment and structural verification. Before any equipment ships, KR Wolfe verifies ceiling conditions and confirms anchor points can support the boom's load capacity. Structural reinforcement is handled in-house when the existing framing doesn't meet spec.
- MEP coordination and rough-in. Medical gas, electrical, and low-voltage data runs are sequenced to align with the installation timeline so the boom doesn't go up before the infrastructure behind it is ready.
- Boom installation and equipment load-out. Column mounting, arm assembly, utility connections, and equipment configuration follow the manufacturer's installation protocols. KR Wolfe technicians are trained directly by the equipment manufacturer.
- Medical gas recertification and commissioning. All modified gas lines are pressure-tested, purity-verified, and labeled per NFPA 99 before the OR returns to service. Commissioning includes articulation testing, brake function, and load verification at the mount.

Industries and Facility Types Served
KR Wolfe installs surgical equipment and ceiling-mounted boom systems across healthcare, government, education, and commercial facilities. We install surgical booms across other industries as well. Healthcare
Operating room boom installations in active hospitals require ICRA compliance, phased scheduling based on surgical volume, and coordination with infection prevention teams. KR Wolfe operates across all ICRA classes, including Level 4 projects in occupied patient care areas where adjacent ORs remain in service throughout the work. See how our Healthcare Renovation Division supports full OR upgrade projects.

Government
Federal and VA medical centers add procurement rules, security clearance requirements, and multi-layer approval processes to the installation scope. KR Wolfe holds a GSA schedule and has completed projects at VA medical centers and military treatment facilities across the country.

Education
Medical simulation labs and teaching hospitals at universities require surgical equipment installation to align with academic calendars, with occupied buildings and instructional schedules that limit when disruptive work can occur.

Commercial
Ambulatory surgery centers and private surgical facilities need fast turnarounds to minimize the impact on revenue. Compressed timelines are manageable when the installer owns the full scope and can sequence trades without waiting on external coordination.
Our Work
Centennial Hills Hospital, Las Vegas, NV
KR Wolfe completed two full Stryker iSuite operating room renovations at Centennial Hills Hospital, including equipment removal, surgical boom installation, medical gas recertification, and Level 4 ICRA compliance. Both ORs were fully renovated and ready for patient scheduling within a seven-day window, on budget, with zero compliance issues.
